People have been getting waist-deep in pow and pelted in the face with freezing cold cotton candy fluff for decades. Every time we try to capture and share the energy of these moments with a snow-filled smile and a quick thumbs-up…that’s TREW. Sharing these indescribable moments with friends and strangers alike the only way we know how: a deep exhale, a maniacal smile, and a big thumbs-up.
The name, the logo, and the idea to finally make the gear to take us to those moments…that happened in the spring of 2008. It began with three friends, Tripper, John, and Stinky, with sometimes very different life-paths, but always drawn together by a love of the mountains and snow. Phone calls and emails gradually took form into a formal business plan, which in turn continued to develop through some solid behind-the-bar networking. hoodriverpub.com
Headquartered in Hood River, OR, TREW has also joined forces with the steeziest and most handsome (well at least one of them) men on the planet: they are Awesomest Prime…Awesomest Prime is Scott Bryan and Nathan Hanna.
THE TRUE RIDER RIPS THE MOUNTAIN everyday, boosts in the park, sends it of cornices and cliffs, floats in the powder, and finds solace in the backcountry.
The true rider keeps the sport in check and grounded to the ideals on which freeriding was founded: fun, powder and the natural energy of the mountains. Apparel designed for the true rider isn’t made just to attract attention or make a statement, nor does it attempt to measure up to the light-weight, Denali-bound, technical shells of prevalent mountaineering companies. Rather, apparel designed for the true rider fulfills the wide breadth of demands of today’s rider, capturing all aspects of mountain riding.
No longer must one rider purchase three different jackets to take him from the backcountry to the park or to the bar. TREW outerwear combines the technology of mountaineering shells with the comfort necessary for a full day on the mountain. This marriage of technology and comfort is then infused with a youthful and fun style to create outerwear that is TREWly unique to the industry.
As dedicated riders ourselves, function and performance come first when designing a jacket, but then we asked ourselves: Why can't technical outerwear look rad?
Distribution Philosophy: We at TREW believe strongly in supporting community businesses whenever possible, and thus we try to support independent retailers with our brand.
Independent retailers have an especially important history and role within the ski and snowboard industry. Local shops in any typical mountains town serve as epicenters for the exchange of knowledge and stoke between like-minded riders seeking recommendations on the latest gear or the best backcountry conditions. These shops are an often overlooked but important part of our culture, and they deserve the support of the industry.
To help support these shops, TREW is working with Shopatron as our eCommerce provider. By working with Shopatron, we will be passing on our online orders to the retailers that support TREW. It’s a win – win – win situation!
