PRODUCT OVERVIEW

Engineered for high-performance, fast-moving backcountry freeride laps, the Cosmic is the lightest of all our jackets, with a technical, hip-length fit and slightly trimmer cut that still preserves full range of motion. In pursuit of minimalism, we replaced all storm flaps with thermally bonded YKK AquaGuard® zippers, and lined the pockets with mesh to save weight and permit double-duty use as ventilation, improving breathability for the uphill. Its two crossover chest pockets are designed for easy access while wearing a pack or harness, while the two hand pockets add extra storage and cut a clean, alpine-inspired aesthetic. For 2013, we have added an ergonomic powder skirt to complete the Cosmic’s weatherproof design.

CONSTRUCTION:
TREW builds outerwear for the rigors of backcountry freeriding, using materials and construction methods that reflect our commitment to quality, durability, and innovation. We use high-quality Bemis® 3-layer waterproof/breathable seam tape for ultimate weatherproofing and reinforcement on all seams. We double-stitch critical seams on all pants, and reinforce the cuff and instep with our signature Superfabric® abrasion-resistant material using a durable, two-needle lockstitch. All exposed zippers feature YKK’s AquaGuard® technology, which adds a weather-resistant polyurethane laminated film to the zipper tape. All of our exterior and interior pockets are laser-cut and welded with high-quality Bemis® adhesive. We work closely with our factory during all stages of development and production to ensure consistency with our highest standards, and with the constant goal of making our garments lighter, better fitting, and more functional without sacrificing durability.  


FABRIC:
Our proprietary 3-layer laminated fabric consists of an ultra-rugged woven face, high-performance waterproof/breathable membrane, and supremely comfortable brushed backing. The face is woven from 140-denier, 100% nylon yarn: an uncommonly tough yet supple material ideal for high-performance alpine wear. We use Gelanots® waterproof/breathable PU membrane for its superior performance and uncompromising longevity when stretched and stressed. The final component is a robust, laminated nylon tricot backing, brushed for added comfort and enhanced wicking. The end product is what gives TREW garments their signature substantial feel and bombproof durability.

GELANOTS® MEMBRANE
Gelanots® waterproof/breathable membrane is an unique, non-porous polyurethane. Its vapor-permeable hydrophilic structure allows water vapor to pass through, and expands as your body temperature rises, increasing breathability during heavy exertion. It is 100% windproof, and because it has no pores it does not lose its waterproofing performance when stretched repeatedly over time.

SUPERFABRIC®
We use Superfabric® for its incredible abrasion resistance, light weight, and flexibility in cold temperatures. Unlike most reinforcing fabrics which rely on stiff, heavy interwoven fibers for protection, Superfabric® instead fuses micro armor plates to the exterior of the fabric, protecting the threads from contact with sharp edges while preserving flexibility and reducing bulk.
