THE AFTERLIFE x GLUBS

By Jess Joyner on
We all love mitts. But what about mitts that are handmade. Handmade out of recycled TREW outerwear. Oh and they are lined with the coziest fleece you've ever felt too and fitted with a leather palm!! Don't take our word for it...try 'em you for yourself!

Jake Eustis, the maker behind GLUBS, got a sewing machine during COVID lockdown. He started off making small batch gloves for pals around Bend out of recycled fleece and any discarded outerwear he could find.

Lucky for us, his details found their way into our inbox and we were stoked to get him a batch of recycled threads begging to be put back into rotation! Jake got to work dreaming up some new designs and we are PUMPED to share the first-of its kind, mitt up-cycling project. The Stasher Mitts!

Long story short. We. Love. GLUBS! And we promise, you will too.

Get a peek into this rad collaboration between THE AFTERLIFE x GLUBS that is NOW LIVE!!

Meet Jake....

Speaking of GLUBS. Where did the name come from?

GLUBS came from a friend who was just shooting out names and I chose it because it was lighthearted and fun. Think “gloves”, but how a child would say it.

Tell us about yourself! Where do you call home?

My current pin drop is Bend, OR! I moved here from Vermont in July 2023 and grew up in Maine. I skate, snowboard, camp, and sew a lot! Sometimes I’ll attend local markets as a vendor and sell my goods there, that’s super fun! Also a great way to network and meet other rad creators and outdoor enthusiasts.

I bought a sewing machine during covid lockdown and taught myself how to sew with the intention of creating mittens for snowboarding. After many prototypes and tweaks to my design I started gifting and selling my mittens to friends and family and then through Instagram and Etsy. Folks will usually hit me up for custom pairs and it takes a few weeks for me to design, cut and sew them. If I have enough inventory I’ll do a market, or an online drop.

Why did you want to collaborate with TREW?

My mittens are primarily made from recycled materials. When I heard about the Afterlife program I knew GLUBS would be a great fit.

Ski or snowboard?

Powsurf, haha

Favorite Day on Snow, Go?!

Last season on a crisp and clear bluebird day my squad and I ripped laps on Northwest for a few hours in waist deep pow. That was a first for me and it was just special.
